Lancaster PA is a cute town only 2 hours from me. I didn’t know what to expect, but Lancaster pleasantly surprised me! There is a lot to do, you can visit the Amish farms, go to rooftop bars, etc. It is the perfect weekend trip, here is a full guide on Lancaster.
How To Get There:
2hr and 40 min – 3hr drive from NYC
1hr and 25 min drive from Philadelphia
Amtrak and other train options available from NYC and Philadelphia
Where To Stay:
Marriott at Penn Square – Located in downtown Lancaster and steps away from many shops and restaurants. This hotel has stunning architecture and a historic section of the Underground Railroad. With brand new upscale rooms and stunning city views, this hotel is the perfect place to stay in Lancaster.
Where To Get Coffee:
Cafe One Eight – Located in downtown Lancaster One Eight brings quality food, community, and hospitality in one place. One Eight’s menu has classics like Avocado Toast to Acai Bowls.
Passenger – While this is a local place, Passenger offers all kinds of teas and coffee from the most memorable places around the world. They focus on specialty, artisan coffee.
Where To Eat:
The Plough – This farm-to-table restaurant is located in downtown Lancaster and offers historical dishes that pay tribute to the rich history of the area with a modern twist. I got a white sangria, strawberry arugula goat cheese salad, and campfire s’mores dessert.
The Exchange – The Exchange is the perfect date night and has great views of downtown Lancaster. This is an open-air lounge that offers craft cocktails, small plates, and an ambiance like no other. I ordered the Rock Shrimp, Caesar Salad and Fried Chicken Bao Buns.
Max’s Eatery – Max’s has the classic feel of an old diner with a modern look. To keep things interesting Max’s Eatery has been adding new items “entertain your bellies” these include house-baked hand-pies, alcoholic malt shakes, and candy-shell dipped soft serve. I recommend Biscuits and Gravy & Mimosa
What To Do:
– Head to Lancaster Central Market. There are different stands with fresh produce, flowers, coffee, and food.
– Go to Spring House Brewery which has great beer and old-school arcade games, corn hole, and air hockey upstairs.
– Vintage shopping at Redeux, Building Character, or any of the Vintage shops in the area.
-Tour an authentic working Amish Farm like The Old Windmill Farm
