I spent the past weekend in Nashville for the first time, and had so much fun! As some back story, I never really had a huge desire to go to Nashville, but had a $200 Southwest credit that I had to use by next month. The way these flight prices are looking nowadays, the only flight within budget, was Nashville so I said why not? I wasn’t too sure what to expect, but that I was going to be partaking in live country music and eating some fried chicken sandwiches, both of which I did. There are tons of things to do, but you can definitely do Nashville in a weekend, if you wanted. So, I put together a guide on where to stay, where to eat, and what to do!

Where to stay

TownePlace Suites Downtown Nashville

We stayed at TownePlace Suites Nashville Downtown/Capitol District located in the budding Downtown/ Capitol District neighborhood which I felt like was the perfect location. It is about 4 blocks from Broadway which is the main Downtown area for tourists, so close enough to be walking distance to all of the liveliness, but far enough where you are able to really rest. The rooms are beautiful and modern, and actually have a full kitchen which makes it super convenient when staying there. At the hotel, there’s Zeppelin Nashville, which is an awesome bar and restaurant located on the 7th floor. We enjoyed the rooftop views with an old fashioned.

There is also the Moonshot café in the lobby of the hotel, and it is bright, colorful, and insta-photo worthy! Of course I went there every morning for a lavender oat latte and a breakfast sandwich or baked good. TownePlace Suites also has free breakfast in the lobby for hotel guests, if you are looking to save some money. Overall, it was such a great stay and this hotel has so much to offer. I would definitely recommend booking for your next Nashville getaway.

Where to eat

 Hattie’s Chicken

When I told people I was going to Nashville, everyone said I needed to go to Hattie’s. They are famous for the Nashville fried chicken. We went and waited in line for an hour in 98 degree weather, and I always swore no food was worth waiting in line for, but I was wrong. Hattie’s IS worth waiting in an hour long line for. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and this fried chicken sandwich is the best I ever had! I also got their loaded fries topped with pimento max and cheese and fried chicken, which was amazing. I would honestly go to Nashville just for this, it is a must try if you are in the city.

Brunch at Party Fowl

If you are looking for a fun brunch, Party Fowl is all about a one of a kind experience. The menu includes hot chicken dishes as well as some spins on classic dishes. They have Boozy Slushies, and an insane Bloody Mary drink topped with two whole Cornish hens, fried avocado and eggs. We got the Nashville chicken eggs benny, chicken livers and beignets.

Dinner at Church and Union

Church and Union is a chic restaurant with a refined menu by food network Chef, Jamie Lynch. It is a newer restaurant, and not somewhere people would think of when they are going to Nashville, but the food was phenomenal, some of the best bites I had in the city. We had the “F***** O**** Agnolotti” which was filled with French onion soup and topped with creamy gruyere. For my entrée I had Southern Salad with cornbread croutons, creamy poblano dressing cotija, and perfectly cooked shrimp. Everything was 10/10!

Drinks at Lou/Na rooftop

Lou/Na is such a hidden gem, there isn’t really even a sign for it, I would have never known it was there if it wasn’t for Tiktok. It is a rooftop bar located on top of the Grand Hyatt Nashville. It is a totally different vibe than the bars on Broadway, its a fancy rooftop bar, which is a lot more calm, but still really sexy. I had their Savia De Arbol Old Fashioned with rosemary simple syrup, chocolate and walnut, it was one of my favorite Old Fashioneds of all times.

What to do

National Museum of African American Music

This is the only museum dedicated to preserving and celebrating music genres creations inspired by African Americans. This museum shares the story of American music that was inspired and influenced by musical hero’s both past and present. It is a newer museum, so it was really interactive an fun. Tickets for adults are $24.95.

Live Music on Broadway

Broadway is the center of downtown Nashville – think of it as the “strip” in Vegas. It is a street lined with “honkey tonk” bars which are multilevel bars. Almost all of them have live country music, which was really fun, even if you aren’t a huge country fan. It is really touristy, but something you have to do at least one night.

Pedal Bike Tours

Another touristy but fun activity to do in Nashville is the Pedal Bike Tours. There are tons of different companies that do them, and it is about $35 per person. You pedal around town on a bike (I didn’t do much peddling) and they play loud music, you drink, and play games. It lasts for about 1-1.5 hours and it is a lot of fun!
