Philly weekend guide

You guys are always asking me for weekend trip ideas so I’m here to deliver! I recently took a weekend trip to Philly and put together a guide on where to stay, what to do, and where to eat. Let me know some other Philly recommendations in the comments!

Where to stay

HYATT CENTRIC CENTER CITY is a four star hotel located in the center of Philly. It is a modern hotel with a gorgeous lobby. We stayed in one of their king rooms and had a beautiful view of the city. There is the Patchwork restaurant and bar in the hotel as well, so it’s super convenient to have dinner and brunch there.

What To Do

Yay Clay

This art studio teaches you how to make pottery using a wheel. It’s the perfect date night or private event activity. They have a clay date deal which is $75 per person for 2 hours. The studios is really cool and it’s BYOB! I made a vase which I’m excited to pick up once the glaze is finished.

Rothman Orthopedics Roller Rink

This roller skating rink is located in downtown Philadelphia and its a total photo worthy spot. The rink is outside which make it a great attraction plus their is total 70s vibes here with colorful decor in the form of balloons flowing above. Tickets must be purchased in advance and they are $15 for an hour time slot. This skating pop up is open until July.

South Jazz Bar

In my opinion this is an absolute must in Philly! South is a restarting that also has a jazz bar and they have shows by jazz artists most nights. You need to buy tickets in advance which are $20 for admission to the jazz bar. While there, most people order dinner and drinks, they serve southern style food. We saw a beautiful show which was a mixture of jazz and blues and it lasted about an hour.

Where To Eat

Patchwork

Located in Rittenhouse Square, Patchwork is a restaurant and bar with a market place in the lobby of the Hyatt Centric Center City. The menu focuses on new American cuisine serving breakfast, brunch and dinner. The cocktails are strong and delicious, for dinner I had the blackened salmon with sunchoke tostones which was great.

Bar Poulet

This is a bougie fried chicken joint with one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had! It came with lavender honey and hot sauce. Bar Poulet is an upscale dining spot that “upscale dining meets guilty pleasure”. The vibes here are sexy yet comfy with a French flare.
